In Memory

Scott Dillery

Dr. Darryl Scott Dillery (Scott) passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at his home in Campbellsville, Kentucky.  He was born on May 4, 1961, to Dean and Martha Jean (Adams) Dillery. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville First United Methodist Church. "Dr. D", as he was affectionately known, was an educator who earned his doctorate from the University of Kentucky and was employed as a math professor at Lindsey Wilson College. He had also served as a visiting professor at the Air Force Academy. He valued the relationships he forged with his all of his students and was a lifelong encouragement to many of them. He was a proud supporter of the Lindsey Wilson Swim Team, an avid canoer, and widely recognized by his beloved and brightly colored shirts.

He leaves many family and friends to cherish his memory: his spouse, Susan Beth Dillery; father, Dean George Dillery of Battle Creek, Michigan; three children, Megan Dillery Duff and husband Stephen of Lexington, Kentucky, Laura Christine Dillery of Campbellsville, and Melissa Grace Darnell and husband Colin of Louisville, Kentucky; three siblings, Kirk Dillery and wife Robin of Battle Creek, Michigan, Daniel Dillery and wife Barbara of West Melbourne, Florida, and Leslie Shaw of Michigan; three grandchildren, Andrew Scott Perkins, Edison Duff, and Oscar Duff.

This is from Scott's 10 year reunion update...

Currently working toward a Ph.D. in Mathematics at New Mexico State University.  M.S. in Operations Research, North Carolina State University.  B.A. in Mathematics, Albion College.  We lived near Colorado Springs, Colorado after my master's degree while working for Kaman Sciences Corporation.  We moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1987 when I began working for Dynaspan Services Company at White Sands Missle Range, New Mexico.  Sue and I help teach a junior high Sunday school class.  We like to camp and spend time outdoors.  When done with my Ph.D., we hope to move back toward the Midwest.

On a personal note - I struggle every time I post one of these updates about Scott.  The high school memories come flooding back, we were in the same group of friends.  I am extremely saddened that Scott was taken too young and when he still had so much to give.  I will hold onto the happy memories, even as I type this through teary eyes.  Jody
